iPhone App Development Experience

Summary: I currently have four commercial apps for sale in the iTunes Store. The apps include one game and three reference apps:

  1. birdJam Twitch is a graphical game that allows players to compete to show their ability to identify bird species from photographs of the birds. Bird photographs are slowly revealed as black squares disappear from an overlay on top of a photograph. iPhone app technologies used include:
    • Image views, Scroll views, Sounds, Touch
    • Extensive database integration at the core of the app
    • Comparing of player scores via a back-end web application
    • Web pages that integrate into the app
    • Custom preferences
    • User registration
  2. birdJam: The App is a reference app that integrates with a customer's iPod Player to play songs directly from their iPod Library, displaying additional relevant information related to each song. In addition to the iPhone app technologies listed above, the app uses these technologies:
    • Querying and playing songs from the iPod Library
    • Auto detection of songs in the iPod Library
    • Complete iPod Player control (play, pause, repeat, volume, progress)
    • Flip and Slide transitions
    • Multiple language support
    • HTML help documentation built in to the app
  3. birdJam HeadsUp Warblers is a reference app that allows a customer to quickly identify birds (warblers) by doing quick comparisons of warblers by photograph and sound. In addition to the iPhone app technologies listed above, the app uses these technologies:
    • Pinch-to-zoom
    • Playing embedded MP3 sound files
    • Custom and unique sound progress bar
    • Filtering of content based on custom preference choices
  4. birdJam HeadsUp Sparrows is another reference app that allows a customer to quickly identify birds (this time sparrows) by doing quick comparisons of sparrows by photograph and sound. Additional iPhone app technology demonstrated:
    • Database replacement to generate a new app: A way to re-use existing iPhone App code to release additional customized apps.
